How to buy a travel ticket in Budapest.

There are two ways to buy a travel ticket in Budapest: at the ticket office and at the ticket machines. We will consider the second case.

In order to buy a ticket yourself, you need to look for these machines:

Let’s move on to buying.

First, choose a convenient language. We will show you an example in English:

The device may not respond to pressing, this is normal. Try tapping the screen harder or again, the device may be glitching.

Then select the ticket you want to buy. In our case, it will be a Single Ticket.
After that, we will get a warning that these tickets are valid only within the city:

Next, select the quantity:

Then select whether we need an electronic receipt. Select Payment without e-invoice if you don’t need it:

After that, select how you will pay: by card or in cash. Select Bankcard, if by card:

Then select whether to print a paper receipt. Select Don’t print receipt if you don’t need a receipt:

After that, a window will appear with the payment waiting:

Bring your card to the contactless reader to the right of the screen, and after successful payment you will see the screen:

After which the tickets will start printing:

The tickets will be issued in the compartment located under the screen, collect them:

You must validate your ticket at the beginning of your trip.
